Η Ε.Α.Ξ.Τ. συγχαίρει τους δημοσιογράφους που τιμήθηκαν με το δημοσιογραφικό βραβείο «Daphne Caruana Galizia 2023»
Η Ένωση Ανταποκριτών Ξένου Τύπου (Ε.Α.Ξ.Τ.) συγχαίρει τους δημοσιογράφους που τιμήθηκαν με το ευρωπαϊκό δημοσιογραφικό βραβείο «Daphne Caruana Galizia 2023» για την σε βάθος έρευνα που διεξήγαγαν για το πολύνεκρο ναυάγιο στα ανοιχτά της Πύλου.
Το βραβείο θεσπίστηκε υπό την αιγίδα του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου το 2020 στη μνήμη της Μαλτέζας δημοσιογράφου που δολοφονήθηκε το 2017, κατά την περίοδο της δημοσιογραφικής της έρευνας για τη διαφθορά στη χώρα της και αποτελεί ισχυρή υπενθύμιση του αγώνα της για την αλήθεια και τη δικαιοσύνη.
H συνεργατική έρευνα του ανεξάρτητου μέσου ερευνητικής δημοσιογραφίας ‘Solomon’ από την Ελλάδα, με την ερευνητική ομάδα ‘Forensis’, τo γερμανικό δίκτυο ‘ARD/STRG_F’ κα τη βρετανική εφημερίδα ‘The Guardian’ αποτυπώνει την πορεία του αλιευτικού σκάφους Adriana μέχρι και τη βύθισή του στις 14 Ιουνίου, στα ανοιχτά της Πύλου, και ρίχνει φως στις συνθήκες που οδήγησαν σε ένα από τα πιο θανατηφόρα ναυάγια στη Μεσόγειο, στο οποίο έχασαν τη ζωή τους εκατοντάδες άνθρωποι.
Το βραβείο υπογραμμίζει την αξία της ανεξάρτητης, ερευνητικής δημοσιογραφίας, αλλά και την ανάγκη διαφύλαξης της ελευθερίας του Τύπου και της πολυφωνίας των μέσων ενημέρωσης. Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και οι εθνικές αρχές οφείλουν να λαμβάνουν μέτρα για την προστασία των δημοσιογράφων και τη διευκόλυνση του έργου τους.

The FPA congratulates the journalists who were awarded the European Journalism Prize “Daphne Caruana Galizia 2023”
The Foreign Press Association (FPA) congratulates the journalists who were awarded the European Journalism Prize “Daphne Caruana Galizia 2023” for their in-depth research on the deadly shipwreck off the coast of Pylos.
The award was established under the auspices of the European Parliament in 2020 in memory of the Maltese journalist who was murdered in 2017 during her journalistic investigation into corruption in her country and is a powerful reminder of her fight for truth and justice.
The collaborative investigation by the independent investigative media organization ‘Solomon’ from Greece, together with the investigative group ‘Forensis’, the German network ‘ARD/STRG_F’ and the British newspaper ‘The Guardian’, traces the course of the fishing vessel Adriana up to the time of its sinking on 14 June, off the coast of Pylos, and sheds light on the circumstances that led to one of the deadliest shipwrecks in the Mediterranean, in which hundreds of people lost their lives.
The award underlines the value of independent, investigative journalism, but also the need to safeguard press freedom and media pluralism. The European Union and national authorities must take measures to protect journalists and facilitate their work.
